 NAF COMPLETES LOCAL REASSEMBLY OF FIRST TWO H125 HELICOPTERS IN LAGOS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at NAF Base Ikeja, Lagos, following their delivery by Airbus. Conducted with the support of Airbus technical personnel, the exercise marks an important milestone in strengthening technical collaboration, facilitating knowledge transfer and enhancing NAF personnel’s practical exposure to the support and maintenance of modern rotary-wing platforms. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as a positive step towards strengthening the NAF’s technical and operational capacity. Anambra Attorney General Orders Probe, Prosecution of Those Denying Women Inheritance Rights


The Anambra State Government has directed the police to investigate and prepare for prosecution cases in which women and girls are denied the right to inherit property on account of their gender.

In a letter dated and released to journalists on September 26, 2026, Attorney General Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, instructed the Nigerian Police to thoroughly examine all such complaints and forward the case files to his office for further action.

Nweke stated that denying females inheritance rights solely because of their gender constitutes an offence under Section 22 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2017 of Anambra State, and carries a penalty of up to four years’ imprisonment.

“In light of the foregoing, you are kindly requested to ensure that your office thoroughly investigates all reported cases of gender-based disinheritance and that the case files are transmitted to this Ministry for further action,” the letter read.

It added that the Ministry’s Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Unit has been designated to handle the prosecution of offenders under the law, in addition to other domestic violence and sexual offence cases.

The directive comes against the backdrop of earlier Supreme Court rulings that have declared customary practices excluding women and girls from inheriting property unconstitutional and illegal.
