 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AIG’S COMMENDATION AS ZONE 13 BOSS REVIEWS OPERATIONS, CHARGES PERSONNEL TO SUSTAIN CRIME-FIGHTING MOMENTUM

CP NNANNA PRESENTS ONE-MONTH SCORECARD: 3 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS RESCUED, 57 SUSPECTS ARRESTED, 18 FIREARMS AND 43 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION RECOVERED, CRIMINAL CAMP DESTROYED

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13, Ukpo, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawye, psc, today, 11th September 2026, undertook an operational visit to the Anambra State Police Command, where he reviewed the Command’s security posture, assessed ongoing operations and commended personnel for the results recorded in the fight against violent and organised criminality across the State.

During the operational briefing, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, MNIPS, presented the Command’s operational scorecard for the past one month, highlighting significant gains achieved through sustained intelligence-led and proactive policing.

The CP disclosed that the Command had rescued three kidnapped victims and arrested 57 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, murder and other serious offences.

He further reported the recovery of 18 assorted firearms and 43 rounds of ammunition, as well as the destruction of a criminal camp, representing a significant disruption of criminal operations within the State.

CP Nnanna attributed the results to coordinated intelligence gathering, targeted tactical operations, strategic deployment and sustained pressure on identified criminal networks by the Command’s tactical units, Area Commands and Divisional formations, working in conjunction with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders.

The Commissioner stressed that the Command would not relent in its offensive against criminal elements, noting that operational priorities would continue to centre on intelligence development, precision deployment, aggressive patrols, rapid response, disruption of criminal hideouts and sustained pressure on identified criminal networks.

He directed operational commanders and personnel to remain proactive, maintain heightened vigilance and continuously adapt deployment strategies in response to emerging crime patterns and intelligence.

CP Nnanna also reaffirmed the Command’s determination to deny criminals freedom of action and to ensure that Anambra remains hostile to kidnapping, armed robbery, cult violence and other forms of organised criminality.

Commending the Command, AIG Dantawye described the operational results as encouraging and charged officers and men to build on the gains through discipline, professionalism, courage, effective supervision and strict adherence to the rule of law.

The AIG placed particular emphasis on intelligence gathering and utilisation, directing personnel to deepen intelligence networks, strengthen community engagement and translate actionable information into timely operational interventions.

He further charged commanders to intensify operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug-related offences and other violent crimes, while ensuring that every operation is conducted professionally, lawfully and with due regard for human rights.

The AIG equally emphasised the importance of public confidence, urging personnel to maintain respectful and responsive engagement with members of the public, noting that credible intelligence and community cooperation remain critical force multipliers in modern policing.

The operational visit reaffirmed the commitment of the Zone 13 Police leadership and the Anambra State Command to sustained operational pressure, intelligence-driven policing and coordinated security action against criminal elements.

The Command appreciates the continued cooperation of Ndi Anambra, traditional institutions, community leaders, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), civil society organisations and other critical stakeholders, and calls for sustained information-sharing to support ongoing operations.

The Anambra State Police Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, disrupt criminal networks and maintain public order, while assuring law-abiding residents that the Command will continue to deploy all lawful operational resources at its disposal to keep the State safe.
