 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND STRENGTHENS OPERATIONAL READINESS THROUGH AIG DANTAWAYE’S ARMS DRILL EXERCISE


The Anambra State Police Command today, 8th September 2026, participated in a specialised arms drill and operational readiness exercise conducted under the supervision of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, psc, in charge of the Police Supervisory Zone comprising Anambra and Enugu States.


The exercise was designed to sharpen officers’ weapon-handling competence, operational discipline, coordination and adherence to established tactical and safety procedures, in line with the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining a professionally responsive and operationally ready workforce.


Participating personnel underwent practical drills focused on safe weapon handling, arms drill, discipline, coordination and strict observance of prescribed operational procedures. Particular emphasis was placed on precision, controlled response, professional conduct and compliance with safety standards in the deployment of police personnel and equipment.


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, commended AIG Dantawaye for the initiative, describing continuous professional development as a critical component of operational effectiveness and responsible policing.


The CP charged officers and men of the Command to translate the competencies acquired into improved field performance, while maintaining strict compliance with the law, Force policies and established Standard Operating Procedures.


He further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining a disciplined, professionally competent and operationally prepared workforce capable of responding effectively to emerging security challenges and safeguarding lives and property across Anambra State.
