Ariana Grande wraps final London concert with emotional farewell to fans before stepping out of spotlight
Ariana Grande closed out her final London concert Tuesday with an emotional message to fans before stepping away from the public spotlight.
Speaking to the crowd at London’s O2 Arena, Grande expressed her gratitude and described The Eternal Sunshine Tour as one of the most beautiful and extraordinary experiences of her life.
Grande announced in August that she planned to take a break from public-facing work after completing the tour. The final leg consisted of 10 shows in London, bringing the 41-date tour to a close after stops across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Grande has repeatedly acknowledged how emotional she felt about the tour ending. During Tuesday’s performance, she struggled to hold back tears as she addressed the audience.
She told fans she would always cherish the experience and praised them as the best fans in the world.
Grande's decision to step back comes after years of intense public attention and scrutiny. Her team previously said she planned to finish the tour on a positive note before taking time away from public appearances and other work in the spotlight.
The singer also dealt with a minor setback during the final London shows. She revealed on Monday that she had cut her foot and needed to replace her signature six-inch platform boots. Grande reassured fans that she was recovering, even though the footwear change left her several inches shorter onstage.
Fans still embraced Grande’s signature style, arriving at the concert in stilettos, cat ears and high ponytails. Grande noticed their efforts and thanked them for helping make the final shows special.
“I have loved every minute of this with you all,” she told the crowd.
The concert ended with a futuristic production featuring Grande being called back to a spacecraft before ascending toward a mothership in a beam of light.
Grande’s next public appearance remains uncertain, but she is expected to have a presence at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. Her latest album, “Petal,” is also expected to be part of the event, where she is nominated for artist of the year.
