Lawyer for Andrea Yates, who drowned her 5 kids in 2001, reacts to Lindsay Clancy mistrial Veteran defense attorney George Parnham, best known for securing Andrea Yates’ insanity acquittal, believes the mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s case could ultimately strengthen her defense.  After jurors deliberated for nearly 40 hours and deadlocked 11–1 in favor of acquittal, Parnham noted that retrials often give defense teams an advantage.  He explained that Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, now has access to transcripts and insight into the prosecution’s strategy, which could be used to challenge witness testimony if inconsistencies arise. Parnham suggested prosecutors may avoid retrying the case altogether, predicting instead that a resolution could involve lesser charges rather than a full acquittal by reason of insanity.  Drawing comparisons to Yates’ trial, he recalled how her initial conviction was overturned after flawed testimony, leading to her eventual insanity ver...

Cops crash massive LA street takeover, towing 100 cars and detaining hundreds

Cops sprung a massive sting on alleged street-racing hooligans in South Los Angeles early Saturday — reportedly detaining hundreds and preparing to haul away scores of vehicles.

The Los Angeles Police Department told The California Post that officers issued a tactical alert at 3:21 a.m. and were still working the scene hours later, as of 9 a.m.

No details were immediately available on arrests or citations from the LAPD.

Video from the scene showed dozens of officers surrounding a massive crowd as people wandered between cars trapped at the intersection of South Figueroa Street and West Alondra Boulevard. Tow trucks stood by, ready to pounce.

Video stringer RMGNews reported that the bust was part of a major joint operation involving the California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and LAPD.

The outlet reported that at least 300 racers and spectators were being detained, while roughly 100 vehicles were slated to be seized and towed. Some attendees were also reportedly cited for taking part in the illegal gathering.

Several prison buses were spotted at the scene and were reportedly being used to haul arrested suspects into custody, according to the stringer.

Officials did not confirm those details.

An LAPD spokesperson said investigators remained at the scene collecting phone numbers from street takeover attendees.

The illegal spectacles have become a stubborn headache for Los Angeles, with drivers routinely taking over intersections to perform roaring donuts as crowds cheer them on.

A crackdown of this size would be rare for an LA street takeover, if the reported numbers are confirmed.
