DASS HOMICIDE: POLICE ARREST PRINCIPAL SUSPECT, SIX OTHERS, RESTORE NORMALCY, AS CP OMOLORI ORDERS DISCREET INVESTIGATION
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with the criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance and culpable homicide that occurred in Dass Local Government Area on 4th September, 2026.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on the said date at about 1800hrs, one Ibrahim El-Safwan 'm' aka Jabala'i of Bayan Fada area, Dass, criminally conspired with his accomplices, intercepted and brutally attacked one Abdulrahman Nuru 'm', 29-years-old, a tricycle rider of Bundot area, Dass, stabbing him with cutlasses on various parts of his body at Tudun Wus area, Dass.
Upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen attached to Dass Division swiftly mobilized to the scene. On arrival, it was discovered that personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, whose headquarters is close to the scene, had already taken custody of the tricycle and one suspect. The victim was immediately rushed to General Hospital, Dass, where he was subsequently confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
Consequently, the tragic incident sparked tension in the area, as youths from Bundot area mobilized in large numbers, armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, and stormed Bayan Fada area for reprisal. This led to a violent confrontation between the two groups at an open space near Dass' Central Motor Park, during which another victim, Mukhtar Jibrin 'm', 38-years-old, of Bayan Fada area, was stabbed. Mukhtar was rushed to General Hospital, Dass, and later referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was also confirmed dead.
However, in a prompt and coordinated save-our-soul response, detectives swung into action, doused the tension, restored normalcy, and arrested the following suspects in connection with the ugly incident:
1. Umar Abubakar 'm' 20-years-old of Bayan Fada area (principal suspect),
2. Blus Garba 'm' 19-years-old Bundot area,
3. Adamu Muhammad 'm' 17-years-old of Bundot area,
4. Hussaini Danjuma 'm' 17-years-old of Bundot area,
5. Hassan Danjuma 'm' 17-years-old of Bundot area,
6. Shuaibu Sani 'm' 17-years-old of Bundot area, and
7. Aliyu Abdullahi 'm' 18-years-oldof Bundot area
Meanwhile, relentless efforts are in top gear to apprehend other accomplices now at large.
The Bauchi State Command's Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc(+) while condemning the senseless killings, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the matter. He further appeals to residents of Dass to remain calm, law-abiding and to desist from taking the law into their hands, assuring that justice will be served.
