FG to Mobilize 4,000 Content Creators to Promote Infrastructure Projects Ahead of 2027

The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled plans to engage 4,000 social media influencers and content creators nationwide to showcase its infrastructure accomplishments as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the proposal in Abuja during a meeting with leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). The student delegation visited to submit a field assessment report on federal road projects across four northern states: Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Sokoto.

Amplifying Infrastructure Achievements

According to Umahi, establishing a nationwide network of digital communicators will significantly improve the administration's public outreach. He explained that online platforms provide the most direct channel to engage citizens, particularly the youth, regarding the scale and progress of public works across the country.

The minister noted that President Bola Tinubu's administration has undertaken vital projects nationwide that the public needs to see and evaluate firsthand. Umahi maintained that an expanded digital presence will bridge the communication gap between the government and the citizenry.

Unanswered Details on Recruitment and Budget

Although the initiative signals an aggressive push to reshape public perception ahead of upcoming political milestones, several critical details remain undisclosed. The ministry has not yet specified the recruitment criteria, commencement date, or financial compensation structure for the selected content creators.

During the discussion, Umahi asked the student representatives for input on how to implement the strategy effectively to ensure transparent communication across all regions.

Student Feedback on Road Safety

Earlier in the meeting, NANS delegates presented findings from their regional road inspections. While recognizing ongoing construction and maintenance work, the student body pointed out infrastructure deficits around several tertiary institutions. They urged the ministry to construct pedestrian bridges near highway campuses to reduce hazards and safeguard students crossing busy roads.
