Steve Burton is locked in a tense custody battle with his ex‑wife, Sheree Gustin, over their daughter Brooklyn. According to court documents, Burton claims Sheree has tried to undermine his new marriage by telling Brooklyn that his wife and stepdaughters are “not family.”
He also alleges she deleted messages from the stepsisters and accused him and his wife of “brainwashing” their daughter, leaving Brooklyn fearful enough to whisper during calls and erase her own texts.
Burton says Sheree’s affair and pregnancy outside their marriage led to their divorce, but insists her anger toward his new wife continues to spill over into their co‑parenting.
The dispute has escalated into what Burton describes as an “endless legal war.” He says Sheree announced plans to move to Tennessee shortly after he relocated back to California, where he signed a three‑year contract with General Hospital in June 2026.
Burton is now asking the court to step in, requesting an order that would prevent Sheree from interfering with his communication with Brooklyn and allow the child to use a cell phone freely while in her mother’s care.
This case highlights the ongoing strain between the former couple as they navigate custody arrangements amid personal grievances. Burton’s legal filings suggest he is seeking stability and open communication with his daughter, while Sheree’s alleged actions point to lingering resentment.
The situation underscores how custody battles can become entangled with unresolved emotions, making it difficult for families to move forward.
