 Former Kennedy Center employees allege leadership delayed roof repairs before citing safety issues in closure decision Former Kennedy Center employees allege that the venue’s leadership knew about serious structural problems well before citing newly discovered hazards as the reason for its abrupt closure this month. The claims were outlined in a letter to Congress from a lawyer representing anonymous whistleblowers. The letter accuses the center’s executive director and chief operating officer, Matt Floca, of failing to prioritize roof repairs and stopping a funded repair plan in April. Floca disputes the allegations, saying recent inspections revealed that water damage had spread farther into the building than officials previously knew. In a September court declaration, Floca cited “acute risks to public safety” following an inspection that found deterioration in a roof terrace canopy and a partial ceiling collapse.  GOVERNOR LAWAL APPOINTS NEW EMIR OF ZURMI


Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Aminu Atiku as the new Emir and Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi.


A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada says the appointment followed consultations and the recommendation of the Zurmi Emirate Kingmakers.


Aminu Atiku, who until his appointment was the Dangaladiman Zurmi, becomes the 21st Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, succeeding the late Alhaji Bello Suleiman, who died on August 31, 2026. He is the eldest son of the 19th Emir, the late Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and a former Sole Administrator of Zurmi Local Government Council.


Governor Lawal while congratulating the new Emir urged him to promote peace, justice, unity and the welfare of his people. He also called on him to work with the government and security agencies to strengthen peace and security in the emirate.


The Governor assured the new monarch of the state government’s support towards the development of Zurmi Emirate and Zamfara State as a whole.
