The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) has intervened in a dispute involving an alleged attempted demolition and possession exercise affecting properties and existing settlements around Filin Shanya in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.
The development reportedly followed an attempt by Hajiya Aisha Abubakar to take possession of portions of the area, with claims that the action was being carried out pursuant to a court order.
The reported development raised concerns among residents and other stakeholders in the area, including the Business Apprenticeship Training Centre (BATC) and surrounding residential communities, prompting calls for the intervention of relevant authorities.
Following the concerns, KASUPDA engaged the affected parties and other stakeholders to establish the circumstances surrounding the dispute and ensure that any action affecting existing developments is carried out in line with applicable legal and regulatory procedures.
The Director-General of KASUPDA, Bldr. Abdurrahman Yahya, PhD, reportedly gave the matter prompt attention and assured the parties involved that the Authority would examine the issues and documentation presented before taking any necessary action.
During the engagement, the concerned parties were given an opportunity to present their positions and relevant documents. KASUPDA also stressed the importance of due process, proper documentation, peaceful engagement and compliance with established planning and development-control procedures.
The Authority said its intervention was aimed at ensuring that the interests of all parties are considered fairly and that the matter is handled through lawful and transparent processes.
KASUPDA further stated that it would continue to engage relevant stakeholders and institutions, where necessary, toward an orderly and peaceful resolution of the dispute.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its urban planning and development-control responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the law.
