 Investigation underway into cause of deadly Kinshasa wedding fire Authorities in DR Congo have launched an investigation into a fire at a wedding party in Kinshasa that left at least 22 people dead. The blaze at a building in Lingwala started on Friday night and continued into early Saturday. Narrow hallways reportedly became blocked as people tried to flee. One more photo below.

KOGUNAN SOKOTO APPRECIATES PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU OVER RE-APPOINTMENT OF NTA DG, SALIHU ABDULHAMID DEMBOS

The Kogunan Sokoto, Dr. Nasir Danladi has commended President Bola Tinubu for the re-appointment of Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos as the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, for a second tenure of three-year-term. 


A statement personally signed by Kogunan Sokoto, Dr.Nasir Danladi Bako, says he extends his warm gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu on this reaffirmation of "Renewed Hope" within the entire broadcast media industry.


 It adds, "as a former operational staff of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and later as Chief Regulator of the broadcast industry in my role as Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) , I believe I occupy a vantage and exclusive position to assess performance of Media professionals and their Chief Executives and I must certify that Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos has gradually brought back a good measure of better sound, cleaner pictures and a greater level of higher quality content upgrade in News and Programmes. It's not yet Uhuru but NTA has moved numerous steps ahead of where it was five years ago.

Mallam Dembos was on my production crew in 1991 at NTA Kaduna studios where I produced and directed a musical documentary."


It further notes that the DG's work ethics and performance driven mentality are reminiscent of the training they all had in the 70s and 80s.
