    A 45-year-old domestic worker, identified as Mbango Émilienne Mbenga, was reportedly attacked to death by five dogs at her employer’s residence.  Reports has it that the v!ct!m had just entered the residence when the dogs a++ack£d her, she was overpowered by the animals and died from the injuries sustained in the attack. The dogs were immediately k!ll£d. The victim, who was a mother and have been working as a domestic worker at the residence of Professor Stéphane Ngwanza, Vice-Rector of the University of Yaoundé I. This incident happened in Edéa, Sanaga-Maritime Division, Littoral Region, on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

As schools reopen for the new academic year, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, 

Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has warmly welcomed learners, teachers and administrators across public and private schools in Lagos State, urging them to embrace the new session with renewed hope and determination.


Hamzat described education as the foundation of a stronger and more prosperous Lagos, stressing that today's classrooms are nurturing tomorrow's innovators, professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders.


“To every learner returning to school, welcome to a new beginning and new possibilities. Dream boldly, study diligently and believe in yourself. The future you desire begins with what you learn today,” he said.


He particularly commended teachers for their dedication and sacrifice, describing them as indispensable partners in building the future of Lagos. “Every lesson taught, every child encouraged, and every talent discovered takes Lagos another step forward. We celebrate our teachers and appreciate the enormous responsibility they carry.”


Hamzat called for stronger collaboration among government, parents, educators, communities and the private sector to provide every child with quality, technology-driven and future-ready education.


He wished the entire education community a peaceful, productive and successful academic year. “Our children are our greatest investment. The Lagos of tomorrow is already sitting in our classrooms today. Let us give them every opportunity to succeed.”
