A car filled with fireworks exploded during an illegal religious parade in central Mexico, killing a teenage boy and injuring at least a dozen more, terrifying video captured. Locals were participating in a procession Thursday in the city of Cuautitlán Izcalli — 21 miles from Mexico City — as part of an annual patron saint festival honoring San Francisco de Asis. Adults and children are seen celebrating as confetti hovers in the air when the pyrotechnics loaded into the vehicle catch fire, the video shows. Bystanders then turn toward the vehicle when the blast suddenly goes off. The person filming is knocked off their feet, while a person is seen sobbing nearby, according to the horrifying video.  NIGERIA ADVANCES STRONGER WHOLE-OF-SOCIETY SECURITY STRATEGY @ UNGA


Nigeria is advocating a stronger whole-of-society and partnership-based approach to tackling emerging security challenges across the country and the wider Sahel region.


A statement by the special assistant on media to minister of Defence Leah Katung Babatunde says, the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, stated this at a high-level side event on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.


He noted that modern security threats require collective action, resilient communities, effective institutions and inclusive development. 


The Minister also highlighted measures by the Federal Government including the recruitment of 22,000 additional military personnel, expansion of the Nigerian Army’s divisional structure.


General Musa also cited efforts to strengthen intelligence coordination, establish forest guard arrangements, improved domestic defence production through DICON, and deploy advanced technologies for surveillance and counter-IED operations.
