The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Anambra State Secretariat, has sensitised 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II nursing and pregnant Corps Members who were exempted from the Orientation Course on their responsibilities, welfare and expectations during the service year.
The sensitisation programme, held on Sept. 3 at the Obi of Onitsha Civic Arena, Onitsha, was conducted by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua. The programme brought together Corps Members serving in Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Idemili North, Idemili South, Ogbaru and Oyi Local Government Areas.
Addressing the participants, Mrs. Ojisua provided detailed guidance on key aspects of the NYSC programme which they could not participate in during the Orientation Course. She urged them to familiarise themselves with and comply fully with the rules and regulations governing the service year.
She further provided the corps members with information on health insurance, allowances and other welfare provisions, assuring them of the NYSC management’s commitment to safeguarding their welfare throughout the service year.
The state coordinator urged the corps members to remain disciplined, committed, responsible and security-conscious throughout their service year. She also encouraged them to take their duties seriously and make meaningful contributions to the development of their host communities.
She highlighted important areas including monthly biometric clearance, Community Development Service (CDS), Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), regular attendance and commitment at their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), security awareness, responsible use of social media, and the need to balance family responsibilities with service obligations.
The programme was attended by the Zonal Inspector, Onitsha Zone, Mrs. Nancy Ngunan Aluka, as well as Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) from Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ogbaru, Oyi, Idemili North and Idemili South Local Government Areas.
In a vote of thanks delivered by a Corps Member, Happiness, who expressed appreciation to the NYSC management for organising the programme and providing participants with essential information and guidance for a successful service year.
