COURT ADJOURNS EL-RUFAI, SIX OTHERS' #8.68 BILLION FRAUD CASE TO DECEMBER 8 The Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has adjourned the trial of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, and six others over alleged corruption and money laundering involving an ₦8.68 billion Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance contract to December 8, 2026, following changes in the legal teams representing the prosecution and the first defendant. A statement by Head Media and Public Communications(ICPC), Okor Odey says the matter instituted by Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), came up before Honourable Justice Hauwa’u Buhari of the Federal High Court, Kaduna Judicial Division, where the newly appointed prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Muktar, announced his appearance and informed the court of a change in the prosecution team.  Okwudili Urges Communities to Adopt Building Layouts

The Head of Development Control, Anambra State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ngozi Okwudili, has urged communities to develop layouts guiding building development.


Okwudili made the call during an enforcement exercise at Nawfia, Oye-Agu, Odoakpu and Trans-Nkisi area on September 1, 2026.


She advised community leaders and stakeholders to establish approved layouts serving as guides for prospective builders and ensuring compliance with physical planning laws and building regulations.


According to her, the existence of standard layouts would provide clear development guidelines for intending builders, reduce indiscriminate construction and minimise persistent violations of building regulations.


Okwudili explained that the demolition of a building  under construction at the Nawfia Market followed the developers’ failure to provide the required 45 percent parking space.


She said the affected structures consequently failed to comply with stipulated building regulations, including requirements governing parking provision and mandatory building setbacks.


Okwudili further stated that no individual had the right to erect structures on existing roads, citing developments observed at Onuma Street, Odoakpu and Trans-Nkisi both Onitsha North Local Government Area.


She reiterated the importance of observing prescribed setbacks and obtaining the necessary physical planning approvals before commencing construction, warning that non-compliance could result in enforcement and demolition.
