 Okpoko Building Collapse: Ojukwu Condemns Illegal Structure, Orders Demolition ‎ ‎By Chukwuka Ugokwe ‎ ‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Bar. Chijioke Ojukwu, has on Oct 8, described the collapse of a three-storey building under construction in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, as unfortunate. ‎ ‎The incident, which occurred in the Anata Anaba area of the town, claimed the lives of a middle-aged woman and her 14-year-old daughter, amid allegations that warnings about the safety of the building had been ignored. ‎ ‎The victims, identified as Happiness Ugoagu and her daughter, Chikaima, were reportedly asleep in their bedroom when the building collapsed onto their residence. ‎ ‎Ojukwu, who visited the scene alongside officials of the ministry, alleged that substandard materials had been used in the construction.  Trump says Kennedy Center could be 'ripped down' without his overhaul


President Donald Trump said the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts could eventually be demolished if needed renovations do not happen. 


Speaking Sept. 16, Trump defended his demand for an inscription recognizing his role below the center’s main sign. The Kennedy Center board approved the plan, but a federal judge has temporarily blocked it.


The board, which is largely made up of Trump allies and is chaired by the president, voted Sept. 15 to close the center immediately for a planned two-year renovation. Trump has pledged to help fund the work. 


He and Kennedy Center officials have said years of inadequate maintenance have left parts of the building in poor and potentially unsafe condition. Congress has allocated $257 million, while the Justice Department says more than $100 million in additional fundraising is needed to complete the project.


Trump has warned that he will not pursue the renovations unless the ruling blocking his name is overturned on appeal. 


Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the proposed wording, "renovated and restored by Donald J. Trump," violated his earlier order requiring Trump's name to be removed from the center's title and signs, as well as the 1964 law establishing the institution as a memorial to President John F. Kennedy. 


The Justice Department has appealed. Cooper is also expected to consider whether the planned closure violates his earlier ruling.
