 THREE-MONTHS-OLD INFANT FOUND FOLLOWING ALLEGED CHILD STEALING IN LUSAKA October 12, 2026 – The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that a three-months-old female infant, who was allegedly stolen from her mother in  City Market area of Lusaka, has been found. Brief facts of the matter are that on October 9, 2026, at around 14:00 hours, Beatrice Lengalenga, a resident of Katondo area in Kabwe District and mother of the infant, was allegedly lured to travel to Lusaka by an unidentified female who purported to offer her employment. Upon arrival in City Market area of Lusaka, the mother, accompanied by the infant and the unidentified female, proceeded to a salon, where the mother was offered hairdressing services.  While the mother was having her hair done, the female offered to hold and look after the infant.  U.S lifts sanctions on Eritrean military in diplomatic reset


The Trump administration lifted sanctions on Eritrean Defense Forces and other entities in Eritrea on Friday, Reuters reported.


The move, announced in a notice posted on the Department of Treasury's website, comes amid the ongoing and expanding war in the Middle East and renewed focus on the Red Sea where Eritrea's coastline is opposite Saudi Arabia.


In 2021, the US administration under President Joe Biden imposed sanctions against Eritrea's ruling party and military as well as senior Eritrean officials for their role in a war in neighboring Ethiopia, where Eritrean forces backed Ethiopian troops fighting regional authorities in the northern Tigray region.


The war in Iran and closure of the Strait of Hormuz, close to Saudi Arabia's eastern coast, have brought into focus the importance of having control over the Red Sea, a key conduit for trade between the Mediterranean and Asia.
