VeryDarkMan and Solomon Buchi Challenge Pastor Arome Osayi's Sermon on Nigeria's National Calling

A recent sermon by popular cleric Pastor Arome Osayi, in which he asserted that Nigeria's national calling is revival rather than economic development, has ignited significant debate among prominent social commentators. Leading the charge are social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and relationship coach Solomon Buchi, both of whom have publicly criticized the sermon's implications for national progress.

VeryDarkMan Questions Faith's Role in National Progress

In a video shared on his Instagram page, VDM contended that the type of preaching promoted by figures like Pastor Osayi directly contributes to Nigeria's stagnation. He argued that both Christian and Islamic religious institutions foster a culture of passivity, diverting individuals who could otherwise be innovating and contributing to national development into a perpetual quest for miracles.

VDM further emphasized that Nigerians possess the same intellectual capabilities as citizens of technologically advanced nations. He highlighted that the crucial difference lies in the application of this intellect, rather than any inherent disparity. The social media critic also defended Nigerians who travel abroad to acquire technological knowledge, rejecting what he reported as Pastor Osayi's criticism of such actions. VDM asserted that these individuals are vital contributors to the country's development by bringing back valuable expertise.

Solomon Buchi Examines Christianity's Impact on Nigerian Society

Echoing similar sentiments, relationship coach Solomon Buchi also shared his concerns in a separate video posted on the same day. Rather than directly attacking Pastor Osayi, Buchi raised pointed questions about the tangible impact of Christianity on Nigerian society. He noted the striking paradox that Nigeria boasts one of the highest numbers of churches globally, yet struggles with pervasive issues like corruption, dishonesty, and poor civic behavior.

Buchi lamented what he described as a significant erosion of the moral credibility once associated with Nigerian Christians. He challenged the apparent disconnect between fervent religious observance and genuine internal transformation among many adherents, suggesting a fundamental flaw in how faith is being translated into societal conduct.

The outspoken critiques from VeryDarkMan and Solomon Buchi have thrust Pastor Arome Osayi's sermon into the spotlight, sparking a wider national conversation about the intersection of faith, leadership, and socio-economic progress in Nigeria.
