 Nollywood Sets New Guiness World Record Black Market attracts 51,000 qualifying viewers at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, to claim the record for the largest audience at a single film screening. The record was achieved at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, where 51,000 viewers watched the movie from the beginning to the end of the screening. The feat surpassed the previous record of 43,624 viewers, set in 2015 during a screening of the Filipino film Felix Manalo at the Philippine Arena. The Lagos event drew thousands of movie lovers, with the venue filled several hours before the main screening began. Organisers had targeted at least 50,000 simultaneous viewers as part of the record attempt. The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, was among the dignitaries who attended the event, alongside personalities from the entertainment industry and government. WOMAN INTERCEPTED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SMUGGLE ALCOHOL DISGUISED AS BOTTLED WATER TO INMATE IN OGUN PRISON . (PHOTO).

 Woman intercepted while attempting to smuggle alcohol disguised as bottled water to inmate in Ogun prison 


A woman identified as Shobowale Balikis has been intercepted by officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, for allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the Ibara Custodial Centre, Abeokuta.


The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Odukoya Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, 2026.


According to the statement, Balikis was intercepted at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Saturday by correctional officers while allegedly attempting to conceal a substance inside a bottled-water pack purportedly meant for an inmate.


The substance, identified as ethanol, was disguised as drinking water. 


The swift intervention of the officers prevented it from reaching inmates inside the facility.


The suspect has since been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation, with appropriate legal proceedings expected to follow.


The Controller of Corrections, Ogun State Command, Abioye Kamoru Adesina, reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance policy towards smuggling and other activities capable of compromising the security and integrity of custodial facilities.


He said the incident underscored the service’s determination to maintain safety, discipline and order within the correctional system.
