A FLORIDA NURSE HAS BEEN ARRESTED AFTER STEALING FENTANYL FROM A CRITICALLY ILL PATIENT'S IV BAG, LEAVING THE PATIENT SUFFERING.(PHOTO).

A Florida nurse has been arrested after stealing fentanyl from a critically ill patient's IV bag, leaving the patient suffering.

This astonishing selfish incident only came to light after a family member of an ICU patient saw, 54-year-old, Leslie Ann Pope approach their loved one's IV bag with a syringe. Pope, who was not assigned to even care for the patient, used the syringe to take the Fentanyl out of the IV bag.

The theft took place at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Port St. Lucie PD was notified after the family member confronted Pope when she attempted the same heist the following day.

Detectives reviewed security footage and were able to see Pope securing a syringe before walking in the room the day of the initial theft. They were not able to confirm that a theft had occurred on the following day before family members intervened.

Leslie Ann Pope was taken into custody at her Jupiter, Florida, home on Thursday, October 8th.  She is being charged with grand theft of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.

Detectives are trying to determine if any additional patients have been affected by Pope's actions.
