A mother who left her children for five days to go on a work trip to Las Vegas refused to fly home to Florida after learning the youngest had been hospitalized, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Irene Miller, 50, was arrested at Orlando International Airport on Friday on charges of child neglect after leaving her children, aged nine, 11, 12 and 14, at her Kissimmee condo unsupervised, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Her nine-year-old son was rushed to hospital with a head laceration on Wednesday after his older sister called 911 to report that a dumbbell had fallen on him, police said.

Officers called Miller to report the accident, but the Russian-born photographer said she was in Sin City until Friday and 'couldn't come home,' Captain Kim Montes, of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, told the Daily Mail.

Authorities contacted the children's father, Mark Miller, who was unaware that his estranged wife had left them, and placed all four kids in his care, she said.

'The kids were ecstatic to see him,' Montes added.

The children are now living with Mark, 53, in a single-room motel after he became their 'unexpected sole caregiver,' he revealed in a GoFundMe campaign seeking $5,000 in support of the children.

'I'm now caring for all four children, and the five of us are living in a motel room,' he wrote on a Facebook post promoting the fundraiser.
