A young Nigerian who once built remote-controlled aircraft has gone on to become a commercial pilot, with skit maker Cute Abiola saying he spent more than ₦40 million supporting his training and accommodation.
The comedian shared Aliu Musa Damilola’s journey in a documentary that brings together footage from their first meeting in 2023 and his progress into aviation in 2026, according to Pulse Nigeria.
Musa said his interest began in childhood, when his ambition to fly inspired him to build aircraft models from scratch.
Cute Abiola said the financial support helped turn that ambition into formal training. Pulse reports that Musa later took the comedian on a flight, demonstrating the skills he had acquired.
The next step, according to the appeal, is raising $30,000 for Musa’s aircraft type rating—the qualification needed to operate a particular aircraft type.
