The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has listed Engr. Seth Bakut as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, following an update to its final list of candidates.
The development puts an end to concerns surrounding the earlier omission of Bakut’s name from the commission’s online portal, which had generated controversy within the political space.
In a press release issued by the Directorate of Communication and Strategy to Engr. Seth Bakut, the campaign disclosed that his name had now been officially included on INEC’s portal as the ADC candidate for the constituency.
The statement noted that the earlier omission had been used by some political opponents to question his candidacy, even before the necessary clarifications and processes were concluded.
With the latest update, the campaign described the development as a clarification of his candidacy and urged supporters to remain focused on the journey towards the 2027 general elections.
It further stated that Bakut’s attention remained on providing purposeful representation, promoting inclusive development and strengthening the voice of the people of Zangon Kataf and Jaba.
The campaign also expressed appreciation to party members, supporters, community leaders and well-wishers for their continued support and confidence throughout the period.
It urged supporters to remain calm and committed, adding that the campaign would continue to focus on ideas, competence, character and a genuine commitment to the people.
