Mayorkun Reveals Panic and Spiritual Search During Davido's Critical Two-Week Silence Before DMW Deal

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, widely recognized as Mayorkun, has shared a captivating account of the intense anxiety he experienced before ultimately signing with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). The singer disclosed how a two-week period of silence from Afrobeats superstar Davido plunged him into uncertainty, especially after he had already quit his banking profession.

Mayorkun recounted his journey during a recent appearance on the Afropolitan podcast. His path to stardom began when Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, discovered a video of him singing online and expressed keen interest in bringing him into his label. This initial enthusiasm prompted Mayorkun to make the life-altering decision to resign from his secure banking job, fully committing to the budding opportunity in music.

However, what followed was a trying period. After the initial communication, Davido unexpectedly stopped responding to Mayorkun's messages for two weeks. This prolonged silence left the aspiring artist in a precarious position, grappling with immense fear and regret over his career decision. Feeling adrift and desperate for direction, Mayorkun turned to faith, actively seeking spiritual comfort and guidance by attending church regularly.

He vividly recalled a particular day when, immediately after leading a praise and worship session at his church, he received a pivotal message. It was from Davido. Mayorkun described the timing as nothing short of a miracle, stating he hadn't even returned to his seat when the message arrived, breaking the stressful silence.

The message from Davido was an invitation that would change Mayorkun's life forever: to pack his belongings and move into Davido's house. This direct invitation paved the way for his official signing to Davido Music Worldwide, marking the end of his panic and the beginning of his celebrated music career. Mayorkun emphasized that this moment felt more profound than a mere testimony, solidifying his belief in divine intervention during his most anxious period.
