LSACA MOBILISES 57 LGAs, LCDAs FOR STATEWIDE HIV SCREENING  The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has charged the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs/LCDAs) to take greater ownership of the State’s HIV response as it intensifies preparations for statewide HIV screening and a more sustainable HIV programme. The Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, gave the charge at the SACA–LACA Coordination Meeting held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, stressing that effective HIV intervention must move beyond the State level and reach communities where people live, work and interact.  Peter Obi Urges Peace and Dialogue Amid Clashes in Anambra Communities

Peter Obi Appeals for Calm in Anambra State

The former presidential candidate Peter Obi has made a passionate appeal to the residents of Umuoba-Anam and Aguleri communities in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, urging them to put an end to ongoing hostilities and embrace peace.

In a statement shared on his official social media account, Obi expressed deep sadness over reports of clashes between the neighbouring communities. He warned that continued violence would only bring about devastation, particularly at a time when many Nigerians are already grappling with severe economic challenges.

Dialogue Over Violence

Obi stressed that conflict only worsens the struggles of everyday people. He noted that adding the destruction of communal clashes to existing economic hardships is equivalent to adding fuel to an already raging fire.

In his statement, Obi highlighted several key points:

• An immediate halt to all hostilities and an embrace of peaceful coexistence.

• The rejection of violence and revenge in favour of reconciliation and constructive dialogue.

• A reminder that no grievance justifies the loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods.

Obi concluded his message by praying for wisdom for local leaders and expressing hope that lasting peace would quickly return to both Umuoba-Anam and Aguleri.
