The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects, including eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants, and recovered AK-47 rifles during intensified security operations in Millennium City and Maraban Rido.
The arrests followed a series of clearance operations, targeted raids and patrols conducted by the police in collaboration with other security agencies to address rising security concerns in the affected communities.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 12, 2026, the Command identified the eight suspected kidnappers as Dauda Murna, Usman Abdullahi, Abubakar Sulaiman, Saleh Abdullahi, Usman Muhammed, Mathias Moses, Makama John and Tafarki Audu.
The four suspected informants were identified as Shuaibu Sabiu, Audu Makama, Simon Moses and Amadu Mathew.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that two of the suspects allegedly confessed to leaking information about police operations and security movements to criminal elements.
The Command expressed concern that such activities could undermine security operations and endanger the lives of security personnel and residents.
It added that investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects' alleged involvement, identify other accomplices and ensure that those found culpable were brought to justice.
Kaduna Government Releases Three APCs
As part of efforts to strengthen security in the affected communities, the Kaduna State Government has released three additional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the police command to boost its operational capacity.
The police said clearance operations targeting criminal hideouts would continue to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt their activities and facilitate the rescue of kidnapped victims.
The Command also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, had ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles and other security resources to the affected areas.
The deployment is aimed at intensifying surveillance, improving response times and preventing further criminal activities.
Government Engages Community Leaders
The latest security measures followed an engagement meeting held on October 10, 2026, between a high-powered state government delegation, security chiefs, traditional rulers, community members and other stakeholders from the affected areas.
The delegation was led by the Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Sani Kila.
During the meeting, Kila emphasised that security was a collective responsibility and urged residents, community leaders, landlords and youth groups to report individuals suspected of aiding or abetting criminal activities.
He also called for continued cooperation with security agencies to maintain peace and protect lives and property.
Acknowledging that Millennium City is surrounded by forested areas on the outskirts of the Kaduna metropolis, the police commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station.
Police Urge Residents to Remain Vigilant
The Commissioner of Police called on members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kaduna State and assured residents that security operations in Millennium City, Maraban Rido and surrounding communities would be sustained.
