AAC SEEK FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO ON SOWORE IN EKITI The African Action Congress, AAC, has called for further investigation into the reported attack on Omoyele Sowore and other party members in Ekiti State, despite the arrest of eleven suspects. In a statement by its national publicity secretary, Rex Elanu, the AAC says new video footage has emerged which it believes could help identify more persons involved in the incident. The party has expressed concern over the handling of CCTV recordings from the restaurant where the incident occurred, and alleges that some stolen phones were traced to the governor's lodge in Ekiti State. It is seeking an independent investigation into these claims, the handling of recovered items and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The AAC has also called for the arrest and prosecution of any other persons found to have been involved, and demanded an investigation into the conduct of any security officers who may have acted unprofessionally.

Video Shows Rep Ogbara Snubbing Rival Oshinowo Amidst Kosofe Political Tensions

A recent high-profile event in Lagos became the stage for a visible display of political friction, as House of Representatives member Kafilat Ogbara notably declined to shake hands with Mayor Dele Oshinowo. Oshinowo had previously defeated Ogbara in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Kosofe Federal Constituency, creating a charged atmosphere between the two politicians.

The incident, captured on video, occurred at the inaugural Seyi Tinubu Colloquium. Oshinowo, a former Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, approached Ogbara and extended his hand in a greeting. However, Ogbara remained seated, turning away from her rival while stating, “Welldone, how are you? I cannot shake you.” The video shows Oshinowo reacting animatedly before eventually walking away.

Fallout from the APC Primary

This public snub comes months after a contentious APC primary election held in May 2026. In that contest, Oshinowo secured the party's ticket to represent Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the upcoming 2027 general election. He polled an impressive 18,614 votes, successfully overcoming other aspirants, including the incumbent Representative Ogbara.

Ogbara's loss in the primary marked a significant shift in the political landscape of the constituency, which she currently represents. Oshinowo is now poised to be the APC flagbearer for the constituency in the 2027 election, subject to standard electoral processes.

A History of Political Disagreements

The public encounter at the colloquium underscores existing political tensions and a history of disagreements between Ogbara and Oshinowo. Their rivalry is believed to include disputes from as far back as 2025, particularly regarding the controversial demolition of the Owode-Onirin market.

The latest incident has reignited discussions about the continuing political unrest within Kosofe following the fiercely contested APC primary, highlighting the persistent internal divisions as the constituency prepares for the next electoral cycle.
