AAC SEEK FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO ON SOWORE IN EKITI. (PHOTO).
This bizarre decision by Law Enforcement occured in LaPorte County, Indiana.
The initial incident occurred back on August 29th, when 34-year-old Daniel Schergen, his girlfriend, and 4 children were taking one of the children to football practice.
During the drop off, a 7-year-old inside of the vehicle, who has only been described as a family member to the suspect used a word that the suspect disapproved. One witness described it as a "really bad" word when being questioned by authorities.
Upon hearing the young boy say the bad word, Daniel pulled into a store and directed his girlfriend to go buy soap. When she returned with the soap, Daniel attempted to make the child place it in his mouth.
The child resisted, and Daniel forcibly held his head in place while trying to shove the soap all the way in the child's mouth. Daniel stated the child hit and kicked him during this.
As a result of the struggle, the child suffered an injury on his forehead described as a "small oval bleeding mark." Daniel had no visible injuries, according to reports.
The girlfriend returned to the store to buy medicine and band aids to treat the injury.
On September 8th, law enforcement became involved after being contacted by DCFS.
Law enforcement launched an investigation into the incident. Over the course of the investigation, they discovered the child had soap forced deep into his mouth at least one other time.
Authorities in LaPorte County ultimately decided Daniel Schergen's actions while trying to discipline the 7-year-old were excessive and abusive.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody on October 23rd. Daniel spent five days in jail before posting a $750.00 bond.
Daniel Schergen is facing Level 6 felony domestic battery charges in connection to the incident.
