AAC SEEK FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO ON SOWORE IN EKITI The African Action Congress, AAC, has called for further investigation into the reported attack on Omoyele Sowore and other party members in Ekiti State, despite the arrest of eleven suspects. In a statement by its national publicity secretary, Rex Elanu, the AAC says new video footage has emerged which it believes could help identify more persons involved in the incident. The party has expressed concern over the handling of CCTV recordings from the restaurant where the incident occurred, and alleges that some stolen phones were traced to the governor's lodge in Ekiti State. It is seeking an independent investigation into these claims, the handling of recovered items and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The AAC has also called for the arrest and prosecution of any other persons found to have been involved, and demanded an investigation into the conduct of any security officers who may have acted unprofessionally.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Launches 2027 Re-Election Bid in Kogi Central

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially launched her re-election bid across the Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the February 6, 2027 senatorial election. The campaign activities, which commenced on Sunday, brought together political stakeholders, community leaders, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates across the region.

The campaign featured a series of enthusiastic roadside receptions throughout Okene and neighboring communities. It eventually culminated in a massive gathering at the senator's residence in Obeiba, Ihima, located within the Okehi Local Government Area, where thousands of supporters gathered late into the night.

Strengthening Party Unity and Representation

According to a statement released on Monday in Abuja by her media aide, Mike Idoko, the campaign event served as a major platform for PDP candidates contesting various seats in the region. Candidates for the House of Representatives representing Adavi/Okehi, Ajaokuta, and Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituencies, alongside candidates for the Kogi State House of Assembly, joined the senator to demonstrate solidarity and build momentum for the 2027 general elections.

Accompanied by her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and key political allies, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to responsive governance, effective legislative advocacy, and grassroots development across all five local government areas comprising Kogi Central: Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene, and Ogori-Magongo.

Deep Connection with Constituents

Speaking to the crowd of supporters, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that her bond with the district extends far beyond political election cycles, describing the local community as her family and primary motivation for public service.

"My relationship with the people of Kogi Central goes beyond elections. These are my people, my family and the very reason I remain committed to public service. I do not need an election season to remember where I come from or who entrusted me with the responsibility of representing them," she stated.

She expressed immense gratitude to the residents who turned out in large numbers, noting that their organic support reinforces her dedication to delivering tangible democratic dividends.

Focus on Infrastructure and Ajaokuta Development

Outlining her forward-looking legislative priorities, the lawmaker promised to intensify efforts aimed at attracting vital infrastructure, economic opportunities, and developmental projects to the senatorial district. She specifically highlighted the Ajaokuta area, noting that its ongoing development challenges require sustained legislative focus and strategic intervention.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reiterated that impactful representation demands continuous constituent engagement, accountability, and proactive legislative action to address the pressing needs of the electorate.
