Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have reportedly repelled an attack by suspected armed robbers along the Kaduna-Zaria Highway in Kaduna State, forcing the assailants to flee and abandon several vehicles and articulated trucks.
The incident reportedly occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, after the operatives received intelligence about the activities of suspected armed robbers operating along the highway.
According to reports, the NDLEA team mobilised to the scene and confronted the suspected criminals, who reportedly fled upon the arrival of the operatives.
A video obtained after the incident showed several vehicles and articulated trucks abandoned along the highway. Some of the trucks were reportedly left with their engines running, while their drivers and passengers were nowhere to be found.
In the footage, NDLEA operatives were seen patrolling the area, inspecting the abandoned vehicles and recovering personal belongings and other items scattered at the scene.
Speaking in Hausa, one of the officers said the suspected robbers fled when the security team arrived.
"They have fled. Look at these people's belongings," the officer said.
Another operative explained that the suspected robbers had blocked the highway before the NDLEA team intervened and dispersed them.
"There were armed robbers blocking the road, but we came and dispersed them. They started running away when we arrived," the officer stated.
The footage also showed an articulated truck with its engine still running but without its driver or any occupant. The operatives said the vehicle had reportedly been transporting goods before it was abandoned.
The officers subsequently inspected other vehicles believed to have been affected by the incident, confirming that their occupants had also fled.
They were also seen gathering abandoned belongings and making efforts to recover the items from the highway.
One of the operatives offered prayers for the safety of the team during the operation, saying, "May Allah protect us."
