'He needs sleep' - NDC clears air on Peter Obi's health The Deputy Campaign Spokesperson of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Dr. Sam Omale, has dismissed concerns over the health of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying he is in perfect health but only suffering from exhaustion. Omale stated this during an interview on Channels Television, where he explained that Obi’s demanding schedule and constant movement between locations had left him physically exhausted. According to him, Obi is passionate about his political activities and often handles several tasks simultaneously, leaving little time for rest. “Sometimes I wonder where he gets his energy from. He is in London today and the following morning in Enugu. I’m wondering how he does it. Exhaustion comes in; he is a human being,” he said. Omale, however, insisted that there was nothing medically wrong with Obi, adding that members of his team were trying to persuade him to get some sleep and rest. “H...

Ondo APC Intensifies 2027 Election Preparations: Governor Aiyedatiwa Meets Federal Ministers Ahead of Akure Rally

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has held a crucial meeting with three federal ministers from the state in Abuja, signaling a significant ramp-up in preparations for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Akure. The strategic engagement, which took place on Monday night at the Ondo State Governor’s Lodge, highlights the party's determined efforts in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

High-Level Discussions in the Capital

The meeting was officially communicated to the public on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan. The statement confirmed that Governor Aiyedatiwa hosted Professor Taiwo Oyedele, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Honourable Minister of Interior; and Mr. Ayodele Olawande, the Honourable Minister of Youth Development. These three ministers are key political figures from Ondo State currently serving in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to Adeniyan, the discussions were a vital component of the preparatory activities for the Ondo State Presidential Campaign rally, which is scheduled to hold on November 11, 2026, in Akure.

Building the 228-Member Campaign Council

This Abuja meeting follows the recent establishment of a substantial 228-member Presidential Campaign Council by the Ondo State chapter of the APC. The council has been mandated with coordinating the party's campaign activities, mobilizing grassroots support throughout the state, and driving engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Leadership Structure for Success

The newly inaugurated campaign council features a robust leadership team designed to maximize its effectiveness. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will serve as the chairman, providing overall strategic direction. He is supported by Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, who holds the position of Vice Chairman I.

Other prominent figures named as vice chairmen include:

• Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior

• Professor Taiwo Oyedele, Minister of Finance

• Mr. Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development

• Honourable Olamide Oladiji, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly

• Mr. Kolawole Babatunde, the State Chairman of the APC

Adding extensive political experience to the team, former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Victor Olabimtan, has been appointed as the Director-General of the council, with Olumuyiwa Adu serving as the Deputy Director-General. This carefully assembled leadership demonstrates the APC's commitment to consolidating its political strength in Ondo State as the 2027 electoral cycle approaches.
