 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 18 YEARS LANRE OTUNOLA ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY.

3-person  robbery accused            Lanre Otunola has been arrested for joining two other suspected robbers who specialized in snatching vehicles at gun point.The suspect who was paraded alongside his gang at the Lagos state police command Ikeja on tuesday confessed that he joined the gang to raise money for the christmas celebration.Others paraded along with him were,Jamiu Agboola,20 years and Toibu Oyeyinka,24 years old.The police claimed the trio snatched two sport utility vehicle at gun point,barely 23 hours after their operation following a tip off from members of the public to the police and the police subsequently laid ambush for them at the spot where they were parked the vehicles at market street,oyingbonarea of lagos looking for buyers.What was recovered from them are,one Honda Acura MDX JEEP,one Toyota High Lander JEEP,two locally made pistols and four live cartridges.The two cars were stolen from Opera street,Coker Aguda Surulere lagos on 14th December,2013.
