Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. 51 years old M.C Hammer real name Stanley Kirk Burrel,has filed papers in court of Appeal against a ruling that awards the I.R.S nearly $800,000 in back taxes,saying that he had already resolved the issue.He was sued three years ago by the I.R.S with his wife Stephanie,claiming he was in red to the tune of $798,033.48 for back taxes in the year 1996 and 1997.The judgement was upheld by a judge Dec 3,with a stipulation that all the M.C Hammer future royalties be forwarded to the Government until the debt is settled,that was why M.C Hammer headed to appeal court.There he stated in court documents that the previous ruling should be voided,as he had settled the red ink vis a vis the terms of a bankruptcy agreement.In the court documents,M.C Hammer lawyers asked if officials might have an error in considering details of the previous agreement.
