TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. Today tuesday,three Syrians were convicted for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia which was announced by a spokesperson from their ministry of interior.The three Syrians are Hamud Hassoun,Hassan Musalamani and Yussef Al-Halgqi,were all arrested with a large amount of banned amphetamine pills.The three of them were beheaded for their crimes.Their beheading in the northern Jawf region increased to 44 the number of executions carried out in the desert kingdom this year.Human Rights watch last month expressed alarm at the surge in the number of executions in the country,where some 19 people were beheaded between August 4 and 40.8 of those beheaded had been convicted of non-violent offences such as drug trafficking and sorcery.They described the use of the death penalty in their cases as particular egregious.
