AKPABIO URGES SOUTH EAST TO SHUN ARMED STRUGGLE, EMBRACE PEACE FOR DEVELOPMENT. (PHOTO).

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has appealed to the people of the South East to sustain peace and prevent their youth from engaging in armed struggle against the Federal Government. Akpabio made the plea on Saturday during the funeral of Sir Albert Ikechukwu Nnamani, former Administrative Secretary of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Area Development Commission (OMPADEC), held in Ikem, Enugu State. In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Akpabio emphasised that development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere and urged Ndigbo to properly mentor the younger generation. “For Ndigbo, I want to plead with you to continue to maintain the peace and watch the youth of today. They don’t understand politics. They don’t understand development. You can only have development in an area of peace,” Akpabio said. 3 SYRIAN DRUG TRAFFICKERS,BEHEADED IN SAUDI ARABIA.

                 Today tuesday,three Syrians were convicted for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia which was announced by a spokesperson from their ministry of interior.The three Syrians are Hamud Hassoun,Hassan Musalamani and Yussef Al-Halgqi,were all arrested with a large amount of banned amphetamine pills.The three of them were beheaded for their crimes.Their beheading in the northern Jawf region increased to 44 the number of executions carried out in the desert kingdom this year.Human Rights watch last month expressed alarm at the surge in the number of executions in the country,where some 19 people were beheaded between August 4 and 40.8 of those beheaded had been convicted of non-violent offences such as drug trafficking and sorcery.They described the use of the death penalty in their cases as particular egregious.
