 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. PRISONERS FROM KIRIKIRI MEDIUM PRISON ATTEMPTED TO ESCAPE YESTERDAY.

              According to sources,they were planning to escape the prison yesterday friday following a protest by inmates over the isolation of one of them.The isolated inmate who leads a christian programme within the prisons had bought a microphone and a fan from his funds kept with the prison officials but the Deputy Prison Controller Kayode Adeyemi,was said to have disapproved the purchase and ordered that the prisoner be locked up in isolation as punishment.This made the inmate to start throwing stones and pebbles at the warders.The Deputy Prison controller then ordered the prison police unit to shoot at sight.This led to shots being fired at the mob of inmates.Checkout the conditions of the prisoners below.
