 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. A BAUCHI STATE TV JOURNALIST ALIYU,SLUMPED AND DIED YESTERDAY.

                 37 year old Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu,who is a Government House correspondent of the Bauchi state Television,was writing his report on the Armed Forces Remembrance Day,when he suddenly collapsed.He was rushed to the hospital,where he was confirmed dead.According to Mallam Kabiru Iiela,his cameraman,who witnessed the incident said that the late Aliyu had worked throughout the day and was compiling his report at about 5:30pm yesterday thursday,when he suddenly started jerking.''He had his meal by his side as he was writing the report,when his mood suddenly changed and he started jerking,collapsing in the process.We raised alarm and sought for help to convey him to the hospital.On reaching the Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital,a doctor confirmed that he had died''.He left behind two wives,six children,an aged mother and four brothers.He was buried today in accordance with Islamic injunctions in Bauchi.May his soul rest in peace Amen.
