Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. Today thursday,the Lagos State House of Assembly finally confirmed the 37 cabinet nominees of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the state Executive Council.The confirmation,which took place during plenary,was preceded by the presentation of a report of the 15 man committee,headed by Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni,the Deputy Speaker of the House,set up to screen the nominees.Eshinlokun revealed that all the nominees were invited by the committee and that they all submitted copies of their resumes and certificates.He also said the documents submitted were thoroughly verified by the committee,which sat for one week from monday,5 October to friday,9 October,2015.Speaker of the House,Mudasiru Obasa,asked the Clerk of the House,Mr Segun Abiru,to send a letter to the governor indicating that the nominees had been confirmed by the House.The report was taken after the House embarked on a general screening of the House during which the nominees were simply asked to introduce themselves and explain how they were screened by the committees last week.On the Lagos State official website,pictures of Governor Ambode's condolence visit to late Lekki Free Trade Zone boss Tajudeen Disu was posted.View the pictures below.
