Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year.  FG DECLARES MAY 29TH  AS PUBLIC HOLIDAY 


The Federal Government has Declared Monday, May 29th as public holiday for Presidential Inauguration.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration in Abuja on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore.

Minister Aregbesola extended his congratulations to all Nigerians on this momentous occasion, commending their unwavering faith in democracy, as demonstrated through the nationwide election that led to the inauguration of the President and his Deputy, as well as in all elections held across the country.

He urged Nigerians to continue their support and promotion of democracy by upholding the rule of law and preserving democratic institutions.
