 ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS 26-YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT OVER MURDER OF GIRLFRIEND, A SINGLE MOTHER IN EKWULOBIA  The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year old male suspect, Anikpe Valentine Chibuike, in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu, a 35-year old single mother in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of the State. The arrest was carried out by operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, on 7th January 2026. The Command has debunked claims circulating that the crime was committed by persons the suspect owed money, describing such reports as false and misleading. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to stabbing the victim in the neck with a knife, an act that led to her death.  Troops arrest kidnap suspect in Taraba


Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have nabbed a kidnap kingpin suspect in Lau local government area of Taraba state. The suspect identified as Suleiman Ahmad a local of Bomanda village is said to have orchestrated the kidnap of 20 persons within Lau local council, and extorted over N70 million from his victims.


The suspect in his confessional statement admitted to being in possession of an AK-47 rifle which he uses for his criminal operations, a statement by the troops said. In a follow-up operation on 15 November 2024, the troops said recovered an AK 47 rifle from a concealed location and apprehended one of Ahmad’s accomplices.


The suspect, Hussaini, a suspected gunrunner, was arrested at his residence in the Mayo Dassa area of Lau LGA. The troops said it remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
