LACK OF MENTORSHIP THREATENS GROWTH IN SOUTHERN KADUNA, YOUTH LEADER WARNS — URGES SOUTHERN KADUNA POLITICIANS TO CREATE MENTORSHIP CULTURE. (PHOTO).
Veteran actor, musician and music producer, Kingsley Orji, popularly known as Egbeigwe, has finally spoken up the past criticism by his counterpart and AGN then-president, Emeka Rollas on posting late Amaechi Muonagor's bed-ridden state on social media.
According to Egbeigwe, he visited Amaechi Muonagor in the hospital and was heartbroken by the state in which he found him. While they spoke, Amaechi asked him to do whatever he can to help him out of that situation, a statement which Egbeigwe said, shattered his heart into pieces, and he vowed to do so.
He then went ahead to make the video of him and Amaechi soliciting for help from well-meaning Nigerians home and abroad--A video that unexpectedly went very viral, drawing the attention of Nigerians who never knew that Amaechi was in such critical condition.
Egbeigwe said that through that video, he was able to raise above 100million naira for Muonagor within four days.
Recall that however, as the video further went viral, the then-president of Actors' Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Mr. Emeka Rollas, made a following video to criticize Egbeigwe's act and the act of posting ailing actors online in their frail states.
Rollas describing it as a very wrong approach, and to Egbeigwe in particular, he questioned how someone(Egbeigwe), who is not a medical doctor could speak about medical needs like a transplant in such manner of a video, addressing him as 'one so-called Egbeigwe".
Rollas also stated then, that no matter the amount of contributions made, Amaechi Muonagor was not fit to fly and cannot leave the country to get medical help.
Now speaking on the whole issue, Egbeigwe said that he knew absolutely nothing about Muonagor not being fit to fly as at the time he was making the video and soliciting for the help, saying that no one told him.
He also said that Emeka Rollas was his counterpart whom he had no issues with at the time, stating that he could have told him rather than randomly making a video to scold him publicly and make his act of kindness look like a bad move.
In response to the address of 'so-called Egbeigwe' by Rollas, he said it was very unnecessary for Rollas to sound like they were strangers or didn't know each other well enough, when they infact, once lived together in Onitsha.
Egbeigwe ended by saying that even though Amaechi later succumbed to the illness and the money couldn't save him, he(Egbeigwe) does not regret doing what he did as the money will now go a very long way in support for the family members he(Muonagor) left behind.
