 Rwanda warns it may withdraw troops from Mozambique's insurgency-hit Cabo Delgado Rwanda ​has warned that it was ready to withdraw its troops from Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province, ‌where they are helping to counter deadly insurgent attacks, if sufficient international funding for the mission is not assured. The deployment in the gas-rich region in 2021, at Mozambique's request, has helped to stabilise areas previously overrun by an Islamic-linked insurgency, Rwandan government spokesperson Yolande ​Makolo said in a post on X, Reuters reported. Bloomberg reported on Thursday that the European Union's support for the effort is due to expire in May with no plans for renewal. Makolo, referencing the Bloomberg report, said the sustainability of ​the deployment hinges on "adequate, predictable funding".  Attacker sets off explosive device in Moscow, killing police officer and himself 

  An unidentified attacker set off an explosive device beside a police patrol vehicle in Moscow shortly after midnight Tuesday, killing himself and one officer while injuring two others, authorities said. The blast occurred near Savyolovsky Train Station in the city’s downtown area. According to officials, the assailant approached a traffic police vehicle before detonating the device, causing an explosion that killed one officer at the scene and left two others wounded. The injured officers were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the incident. Officials have not released the identity of the attacker or provided details about a possible motive. The explosion took place on the fourth anniversary of President Vladimir Putin’s decision to deploy Russian troops into Ukraine, a date that carries significant political weight inside the country. Authorities have not indicated whether the timing of the attack was connected to the anniversary.
