 Serena Williams falls to 20-year-old Maya Joint in Wimbledon return after nearly four-year singles absence Serena Williams showed flashes of the power and precision that defined her Hall of Fame career in her return to professional singles tennis Tuesday, but ultimately fell short in a three-set opening-round loss at Wimbledon. The 44-year-old Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, was defeated 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3 by 20-year-old Australian Maya Joint in a match that lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes on Centre Court. It marked Williams’ first singles appearance in nearly four years, since the 2022 U.S. Open.              According to a Chad soldier,who in a statement disclosed to the press that Chad soldiers killed 13 fighters from the islamic militant group Boko Haram in a battle in Nigerian town of Gambaru,today wednesday.Chad's army is in Gambaru as part of a regional offensive including Niger and Cameroon against Boko Haram,whose militants have staged cross border raids in addition to attack inside Nigeria as part of a campaign to establish a caliphate.Much of the recent fighting has taken place near Lake Chad,which borders Nigeria,Chad,Cameroon and Niger,and in northern Cameroon itself.The military source said ''We knew they were going to attack us.We were waiting.The battle didn't last long.They fled''.The army said 11 Chadian soldiers were wounded,three out of 14 Boko Haram vehicles were destroyed and one was seized.Boko Haram attacked the town of N'Guigmi on Niger's border with Nigeria late on yesterday tuesday with mortars and machine guns,but the...

                                               These information got to my desk yesterday,after the Public Relations Officer for the Nigerian Immigration Service Chukwuemeka Obuah,on monday made the information available after they placed an advertorials were placed in major media outlets for the purpose of recruitment.The statement reads ''The Presidential Committee to assist in Immigration Recruitment on monday February 9,2015,placed advertorial in some national national dailies requesting application from suitable Nigerians for enlistment into the Nigerian Immigration service starting from 9 February,2015 to 22 March 2015.Note the application is free and must be done online''.The last recruitment tragedy happened March 15 2014,when 6.5 million people in all 37 states including the FCT,for just 4000 vacant position in the service.More photo below.     ...

                         According to a video posted on youtube,Doyin Okupe,who is the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs,yesterday sunday was disgraced in an event in Presidential Villa in Abuja.Doyin Okupe attempted to disparage the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC,General Muhammadu buhari,when all of a sudden,people started booing.He was booed because he was telling the crowd Buhari did not go to school and as such,Nigerians should not vote for him.But his attempts fell flat as the guests at the event on national television,disgraced and booed him in defence of Buhari,by shouting APC,APC,APC,APC etc.Watch the video below.                                                                     ...

                                                                               It was a day of joy as Barrister Yemisi David {Mrs Ode},got married to her boyfriend of 7 years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the reception took place at Ogra Recreation Centre,a posh centre located at Ogudu GRA,Lagos state.All her friends and relatives from far and wide came for the wedding.The wedding started in the morning with the engagement ceremony,then later she changed from her traditional attire to her white gown for the church wedding.Though she changed to a third dress but i did not stay to the end of the occasion,to see the third dress.I wish her a happy married life.More photos below.
